11/20/11 New Section on Therapeutic Hypothermia Added
As you likely know, Therapeutic Hypothermia is used for patients who have Cardiac Arrested, with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), but have poor mental status (GCS < 6-8). The therapy targets these patients within 6-12 hours, drops their core temperature to about 34C for about 24-hours and then with a slow rewarming improves their overall chances of neurological outcome.
This section provides a good overview of the indications, contraindications, phases, and commentary on the RT's role.
The information can be found here.
